Artist Statement

Inspired by medieval art, The MAGA Chronicles is a meditation on how unchecked power warps truth and corrupts history. It is a cautionary tale of a civilization unable to seize its destiny from the jaws of despotism. What will we do and how will we be remembered at this defining moment? The challenge to revitalize our republic is before us. Let's make history.

The Prologue panel of the chronicle: a continuous frieze in the manner of the Bayeux Tapestry, with worked upper and lower borders and tituli in Roman capitals. It closes on Donald Trump, mock-haloed, descending an escalator with a thumb raised as a crowd holds up phones. That scene's titulus, written in the voice of the propaganda the work mocks, reads: ENTER DONALD JOHN TRUMP. HE WILL DRAIN THE SWAMP. THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING OF AMERICA.

Chapter 6 of the chronicle, The Storm: the second panel of the frieze, worked in the same manner as the Prologue and carrying its own tituli in Roman capitals.
